Kaikohe is a comfortable commuting distance to the Bay of Islands, Hokianga, Whangaroa and Pawarenga Harbours. In the weekends, it's an easy drive out to the massive Kauri forests of Waipoua, Puketi and Omahuta, not to mention beautiful beaches and secluded bays. The little settlements of Ohaeawai, Okaihau, Moerewa and Kawakawa all offer excellent country schooling and relaxed lifestyles.
